What does self-guided involve and what is included?

On a Dolomite Treks self-guided holiday you hike on your own without a guide but with the following included:

• comprehensive hiking and background notes and map;
• an initial briefing, generally in person, but very occasionally by phone;
• accommodation; 
• private transfer advice and booking service;
• breakfast, and sometimes half board dinners, at the hotels and refuges;
• a phone number to use for problems and assistance;
• baggage transfer services where appropriate – i.e. on our self-guided Panoramic Circuit of Cortina d’Ampezzo trip but not generally on our refuge trips.
