When to come
Weather/Climate in the Dolomites
The easiest time to walk in the Dolomites is between June 20th and September 20th as this is when it is most likely to be free of snow, the weather is at its best, the hotels, mountain refuges and restaurants are open and the ski lifts and public transport
services are running.
Dolomite summers are mild with average monthly maximum temperatures in July and August rarely much over 25°C (77°F) and averages of around 20°C (68°F) in June, September and October. All mountain regions get a fair amount of rain in summer
and the Dolomites are no exception. June and September are the driest months.

Things to bear in mind
- spectacular alpine flora - mid-June to early July is the best time for flower lovers with the full range of Alpine flowers in bloom. If it is a particular flower you are interested in contact us to find out when your best
chance of seeing it is;
- mid-August holidays - August, particularly mid-August, is a very busy month and you will be more likely to find a lot of people on the footpaths and around the refuges. This can be managed, however, to some extent, in the
choice of route;
- the amazing colours of the Dolomite autumn - late September and the whole of October is a particularly beautiful time in the Dolomites with the changing colours of the mountain forests and the footpaths all to yourselves.
